THE SAGUARO CACTUS, lone sentinel of the Sonoran Desert. The only time they look funny is when they are supposed to be in Texas because they only grow in southern Arizona and have some cousin species in Northern Mexico but these are the top of the food chain in the Sonoran Desert. Many critters make their homes in them and while they can live hundreds of years, lightning takes one in five which die.
Still their shapes, textures playing with light in the Sonoran Desert is worth the trip...
